Noynoy says he can’t avoid thinking he could suffer De Lima’s fate

Former president Benigno Aquino III on Monday said he cannot avoid thinking that he could suffer the same fate as the criminally charged and detained Senator Leila de Lima.
"Hindi natin maiiwasan mag-isip nang ganun," Aquino said at a press conference after he filed his answer to a complaint against him at the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with his administration's P3.5-billion dengue immunization program.
De Lima, indicted for her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison when she was Justice secretary under Aquino's watch, has yet to be arraigned and stand trial for the charges against her.

The staunch Duterte critic has been detained for over a year in what she and her allies and supporters have called "political persecution."
Aquino, on the other hand, faces charges for his alleged liability over the Dengvaxia fiasco, a controversy that redrew public attention when drug manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur announced that the vaccine may lead to a "severe" case of dengue upon subsequent infection among individuals who have not acquired the mosquito-borne disease prior to immunization.
He has been accused of electioneering before the Commission on Elections, of plunder before the Office of the Ombudsman, and of graft, technical malversation, and criminal negligence before the DOJ, all in connection to the dengue vaccine issue. — RSJ, GMA News
